Obituary for Barbara Jean Cook

Barbara Jean Cook, aged 81, of Smith Road, Houston, Ohio, passed away due to natural causes at her home on November 25, 2025. Born on June 16, 1944, in Piqua, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John and Elsie Sweigart. Barbara married Ronald J. Cook on September 4, 1965, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Piqua, who preceded her in death on November 3, 2020. She is survived by three children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, along with several siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1962 graduate of Piqua High School, Barbara earned an associate degree in accounting from Sinclair Community College and served as the fiscal officer for Loramie Township. Active in her community, she was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the New Hope Garden Club, and enjoyed activities like gardening, quilting, and spending time with family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on November 29, 2025, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, followed by interment at Forest Hill Cemetery.
